Typhoon day!

Today the kids did not have school because it was called a national typhoon day. They love these days which are much like our idea of a snow day. Except today there wasn't much rain at all and they definitely could have went to school anyway. I was getting really excited for the typhoon. Oh well.

Nic and Stacy took us to a food place today called "The Cafeteria." It's like buffet style Chinese food. I'm oh so slowly learning how to use chopsticks. It's funny because anytime we go out the waiters try to give Christina and I forks and offer us the English menus.

Scooters are more popular than cars
I'm going to be taking over Nic's classes when he leaves on Wednesday. He told the kids that I was crazy, haha. I'm really excited to start teaching and the lessons are all planned out for me. Also, today I got to see one of the girls from camp, Eva, who takes classes with our school. It was so great to see her and know that she is doing well. She starts university next week in Taipei.

To give you an idea, Changhua, where I am, is a small suburban city just 15 mins. south of a larger city, Taichung. Taipei, the capital, is about 2 hours north. Changhua is super cool and not tourist-y at all, except that we have a huge Buddha in town which attracts people to the area.

After the mini orientation, Jay and Kitty took us to Taichung to order Moon Cakes for the Moon Festival on September 12th. We went to a nice dinner at a hotel there, too. Finally, and the best part of the day, we had an intense competition of Foosball at Jay and Kitty's house, lol.
