Not in Pittsburgh anymore...

So today is the first day I have internet (thank you, Nic) and Christina and I had a good day so far. We went to an open air fruit market, where the owner of the market asked us if we had boyfriends, lol. Then we went to a little store where we bought basic necessities like cups, plates, etc. I got a plate for 10$ NT which is equivalent to about 34 cents. Yesterday I bought 3 huge tubes of Colgate toothpaste for about $6 US. Oh yeah, and 6 rolls of paper towels and 12 rolls of toilet paper for $1 US. The prices here are very reasonable for most things.

Afterward Nic and Stacy showed us around town a little bit. We went to an English bookstore, and I bought The Prince by Machiavelli.  In a little bit we are going swimming and preparing for the big typhoon that is going to hit tomorrow, which is also the day we start work. Should be interesting.

Jay and Kitty took us to "Sushi Express" yesterday. It was a restaurant where sushi goes around on a conveyor belt. You pick what you want and it's only $30 NT or $1 US per plate. Then we visited the school and met some of the other teachers. Also, we went to a Buddhist temple.

Overall I really like it here. Everyone drives a scooter, but I'll be getting a bike instead. I still have a bit of jet lag. Yesterday I slept for 12 hours straight and woke up at 5:30 a.m.

That's all for now...
